Artist Advisory Committee

A settler immigrant living and working on Gadigal land, born and raised in Saudi Arabia, Saffa is an artist, activist, public speaker, and works in the disability sector. In 2016 Saffa was reported to Saudi authorities when their artwork I Am My Own Guardian went viral. The piece became the unofficial logo of a feminist social movement, leading Saffa to be recognized as a political dissident.

They have since exhibited and created murals both locally and internationally. In 2019 their work was displayed at a session of the US Congress and they were shortlisted for the Index on Censorship Freedom of Expression Award.
