Prince
Artist Advisory Committee
Prince is an interdisciplinary artist, school teacher, artist educator and community facilitator who was born, raised and educated on unceded Gadigal and Darug Country. As a teacher and educator Prince thinks of their pedagogical practice as art, striving to elicit critical thinking, and to bring social, political and environmental discussions into the realm of artistic practice and the classroom.
In their art practice Prince explores archive, memory, stillness and somatics, complex representations of disability in public space, ideologies and practices that govern and limit bodies in movement, walking and socially engaged practices. A major aspect of their work is healing and preserving a connection to body, place, people and politics - at times using humour as a device to broaden the accessibility of their work. Their practice is informed by the magic, sounds and costume of their Lebanese-Assyrian lineage, and their lived experiences as an optic through which they can explore senses of self and connectivity.
